The best way to thaw frozen meat is to plan ahead and defrost in the fridge the day before you want to prepare your meat. Thawing the meat in the refrigerator can help maintain the quality of the meat.

I’m so excited to team up with @meridianfarmmarket and @ralphsfarmmarket as one of their ambassadors. I will be trying out some products and sharing the ones I love! The first product is their 2020 First Harvest Honey. It’s a fresh, locally produced, unpasteurized Honey. 🐝
What does that even mean? In a nutshell:
Unpasteurized- Little heat is used to process the honey, retaining nutritional properties
Locally produced- produced by honeybees in alfalfa fields right here in the Fraser Valley
Honey is a staple I keep in my pantry year round. Of course it’s a great natural sweetener but it has so many more benefits.
1️⃣ It’s awesome as a natural cough suppressant (great for kids age one and over)
2️⃣ Soothes and heals wounds (antibacterial properties)
3️⃣ Helps with digestion and gut health
4️⃣Makes great hair and face masks.. I could go on...
II have a thing for multi-use products and this is one superfood. Grab some honey your next shopping trip. Keep your eyes peeled for some tried and true recipes ft. 🍯...
Ham leftovers?! They are perfect for this split pea soup.
We have fresh Bone In Hams available at all of our Meridian and Ralph’s locations.
Split Pea & Ham Soup (serves 4)
Double the recipe for leftovers
Sautee the following for 5 minutes in a big pot:
1 large onion diced - chopped finely
2 stalks of celery – sliced thinly
2 carrots – sliced thinly
1 teaspoon dried thyme
1 garlic clove
Add and cook for 10 minutes on medium low heat:
2lbs of Bone In Ham (put in whole, with bone)
1 bay leaves
Add 3 cups of water and 1 cup of split peas, bring to a boil. Simmer for 3 hours on low heat.
Pinch black pepper
1 T Himalayan sea salt
Remove the whole bone in ham, cut ham into small bite sized pieces and add back to soup. By using this method, the soup will be full flavoured and bountiful in nutrients.
Enjoy! Serves 4.

During this holiday weekend we feeling an abundance of gratitude and thanksgiving. Gratitude to our staff, our farmers, and you, our customers, who often feel more like family.
We are grateful for our staff (all 450!) who have come together and helped us carry on as a company during this time of uncertainty. They truly recognize the importance our role plays within our communities and we are proud of the way they have stepped up to the task. We have always felt like a family at Meridian, especially now.
We are grateful for our farmers and their consistent efforts to provide us with healthy foods when concerns were high over supply levels. They kept up with the demand and went above and beyond to keep our markets well stocked.
We are grateful for you, our customers, and the patience and support you have shown us as we figure out this new normal within our communities. Thank you for allowing us the privilege of providing fresh foods to you and your families and thank you for the extra kindness you’ve shown us this year. Our hearts are full.
Happy Thanksgiving - from our Meridian Family to yours....
